During Christmas Vacation, our Warden GEAR UP office was open Wed-Fri. of each week.  In partnership with 21st Century, the Warden Students were able to come into the school, sign in and get assistance with homework assignments, make up tests and if they stayed for 5 hours, they were also able to make up a school day!

Warden teachers really jumped on board and provided the GEAR UP staff with missing assignments, classroom work, make up tests etc for the students to work on.  And the Warden School Administration made the school facilities available to us, and allowed the make up days to count!

We were  able to give assistance to the students through access to high speed internet, computers for writing assignments, assistance with college applications and the Free Financial Applications for Federal Aid (FAFSA).  Parents were also welcomed to come with their students to use the internet for FAFSA submissions.

We had over 203 student hours with 38 different students, signed into the GEAR UP computer lab alone! We met with a few parents too.  The Holiday School allowed our students to start school in 2008 without dragging so much of 2007 behind them. They were able to get help with homework, get caught up and ready for school,  and see some of their friends! It was a win-win situation all the way around!
